I love how all if the ingredients are easy-to-find and there are no complicated, lengthy steps in this recipe. And, the most important point? They are delicious! Oh my we took them on all of our hikes this summer in South Fork CO. We hiked with a hiking group that did easy hikes to bush whacking hikes to long hikes of 11+miles with close to 2000 feet of elevation gain. These were my husband’s an my go to for an energy boost while hiking. I can’t even remember how many time I have made these. I have used almond butter, cashew butter and peanut butter. Honey or Maple syrup all good. However, I do have a love of local raw Colorado wildflower honey. so good Katie thank you for your wonderful recipes.

I took them to ESL class and someone commented that they were good enough to sell. Thanks

Hi Jacyln, I prefer the ease of the no-bake option. I wasn’t able to get a version that baked and didn’t crumble, so I just make my regular granola when I want a baked option.

My mix-ins were toasted pecans, dried cherries & shredded coconut. Amazing combo. Excited to have a new snack to reach for in the fridge. Thanks Kate!

Word from the wise- if your sunflower seeds are roasted and salted, you’ll have to adjust your salt amount! Maybe do 1/4 tsp or omit altogether. I’m craving salt this pregnancy so I don’t mind, but some might find that a little too salty!

Hi Katie, bars keep well for several days at room temperature, a couple of weeks in the fridge, or several months in a freezer-safe bag in the freezer for best flavor.
